CHICAGO - THREE WHITE SOX WORKERS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY SATURDAY AFTER ALLEGING TO CONSPIRE TO CHANGE THE HITTING MECHANIC USED BY THE TEAM.

AN FBI SPOKESMAN SAID IT WOULD BE SOME TIME BEFORE THOSE ARRESTED WOULD HAVE THEIR NAMES REVEALED.

"OBVIOUSLY, THAT'S FOR THE PROTECTION OF THEIR FAMILIES, AS WELL AS NOT TO JEOPARDIZE THE ONGOING INVESTIGATAION," HE SAID.

AS REPORTED IN THE SATURDAY EDITION OF THE MORNING SUN, THE SPOKESMAN CONFIRMED THE DATE THE HITTING MECHANISM WAS CHANGED INTERNALLY TO "LEGEND" FROM "VETERAN" AS STARTING MONDAY, AUG. 12. HE DECLINED TO SAY WHENE THE BREACH WAS DISCOVERED, BUT NUMEROUS SOURCES SAY IT WAS THURSDAY, SEPT. 5.

CHICAGO LOST FRIDAY'S GAME 4-1 TO THE ROYALS BEFORE POSTING AN 8-3 WIN SATURDAY, JUST THE FIFTH WIN IN THE LAST 24 SOX GAMES.

NEITHER MAJOR LEAGUE FRANCHISE FANTASY BASEBALL OR WHITE SOX FRONT OFFICE WORKERS WOULD OFFER COMMENTS SATURDAY, DEFFERING COMMENTS TO THE FBI.

A MORNING SUN STUDY REVEALS THE SOX STARTED AUGUST 8-2, THEN DROPPED 11-OF-13 GAMES FROM AUG, 13 TO 26. CHICAGO WENT 2-7 AFTER THAT SKID BEFORE THE ALLEGED SCAM WAS FIXED.
